Douglas C. McDougald, Jr.

In 1963, Douglas McDougald, Jr. joined the firm founded by his father. This came after graduation from Anderson Boy’s High School, Presbyterian College and two years of service in the United States Army. Douglas is married to the former Peggy Fretwell, also a native of Anderson and a frequent contributor to the firm’s activities. Douglas is an elder and past trustee of the First Presbyterian Church. He also is a former member of the board of trustees of Presbyterian College.

He is a past president of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association. Among other activities, he serves on the board of Innovate Anderson and was chairman of the steering committee of Imagine Anderson 2020. Douglas is a member and a past president of the Anderson Rotary Club.

In the past, he has served on the boards of the YMCA, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce.

He is the father of Doug III and Jess, full partners in The McDougald Funeral Home.
