Betty Philyaw Hall Dunn, age 84, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, SC on September 7, 1932, she was the daughter of the late E.B. "Pud" Philyaw and the late Essie Mae Brooks Philyaw. Betty worked as a machine operator at Singer, where she later retired. She was a faithful member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years. She is survived by her son, Larry B. Hall (Elaine); daughter, Theresa Hall Hammond; brother, E.B. "Skeeter" Philyaw; grandchildren, Mike and Scott Chasteen, Matthew Hammond (Angie), Cameron Hall (Laura), and Jenna Burnside (Buck); and great-grandchildren, Jacob Hall, James Hammond, and Lainey Burnside. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, B.C. Hall, Jr.; and second husband, Cullen Dunn. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Kirt Mitchell and Rev. Furman Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence of her son, and will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service on Saturday, January 28, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.
