Dr. James E. Pennell Anderson, SC Dr. James Edgar Pennell, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at his residence. Born in Anderson, SC on June 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Robert Edgar Pennell and the late Sara Spearman Pennell. He graduated from Boys High School Class of 1947 and Clemson College Class of 1951. He served from 1951 until 1954 in the United States Army as a second lieutenant during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service he attended The Medical College of South Carolina and graduated in 1959. He served his residency at Greenville General Hospital, Greenville, SC and in 1962 began his practice of medicine in Anderson, SC. For many years he served as the physician for Anderson County and the City of Anderson and retired from the practice of medicine in 1999. Dr. Pennell was a long-time member of Grace Episcopal Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Jan Berry Pennell; children, James Edgar Pennell, II, of Anderson, SC, Robert Clark Pennell and his wife Susan, of Clarksville, TN and Kate Pennell Nilsson and her husband Erick, of Humboldt, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Pennell Allen. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with the Reverend John B. Hardaway, IV officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Serving as honorary escort will be the Jimmy Ezell Intercessory Prayer Group. The family will be at the residence.
