Hazel Moore Gaines, 92, of Townville, SC passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House. Born February 13, 1925 in Oconee County, SC, Hazel was a daughter of the late Troy M. Moore and the late Irene Cole Moore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leo T. Gaines; daughter, Margaret Leopard and several brothers and sisters. Hazel was of the Church of God faith and was known as a prayer warrior. She enjoyed crafting and quilting. She is survived by her son, Ray Troy Gaines (Elaine) of Anderson, SC; daughters, Jo Ann Newton of Anderson, SC and Mildred Whitfield (James) of Townville, SC; sister, Patsy Smith of Townville, SC; five grandchildren, Wesley Newton (Katie), Richard Newton, Angie Kesler (Kyle), Cindy Reese (Bryan) and Mary Burns (Rusty); 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, January 25, 2018 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be in the chapel on Friday at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Randy Crowe and Rev. Larry Stancil officiating. The burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Clemson, SC. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Jo Ann Newton.
