Aaron Rudolph McKinney, age 87, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born June 3, 1936, in Anderson, he was a son of the late Joseph Aaron McKinney and Kathleen Hardy McKinney. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents; and brother, Ronald McKinney.

Aaron was a 30-year member of the US Army Reserves. He was a service manager at Sears for 37 years before retiring. He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Arflin McKinney; 4 children that include Edward R. McKinney and Pamela Ruth Cole (Mark); siblings, Kenneth McKinney, Sara Barnes, and Sue Roach; grandson, Matthew Weaver along with 4 other grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Friday, October 20, 2023, at 3:00 pm at New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Turner and Rev. Drew Gunter officiating. The committal service with military honors presented by Campbell Patriots will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 pm at the church. Mr. McKinney's Desire Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
