Alan George Lawton, age 70, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at AnMed Health Medical Center following a short illness. Born in Eltham, England, on February 24, 1946, he was the son of the late Reginald Lawton and the late Joyce Tunnecliffe Lawton. In his youth, he was a rugby player and also enjoyed gardening and running a youth group. His plans for retirement were to pursue woodworking and boating, sadly these plans were never realized. His passion was cooking for family and friends. He loved to entertain friends and spoil his 5 dogs. He was incredibly proud of all the children and grandchildren. Although he could not get to see them often, they were always on his mind and in his heartHe had a wonderful voice and was known as a "do-it-yourselfer". Alan graduated from the City of London College and he was a banker for several banks throughout his career both in the UK and the United States. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, where he sang in the choir. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Mary Reynolds Lawton; a son, Tony Lawton and his wife Meghan, of New Jersey; a daughter, Abigail Gauthier and her husband Neil, of Connecticut; a son, Michael Walmsley and his wife Alissa, of New Jersey; a daughter, Gillian Sacino and her husband Joseph, of New Jersey; two brothers, Reg Lawton and his wife Pauline, of Australia, and John Lawton and his wife Mary, of United Kingdom; eight grandchildren and one due any time soon. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with The Reverend John B. Hardaway, IV officiating.
