Albert "Rudy" Evans, age 75, of Anderson, SC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Born February 6, 1951, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Jimmy and Wilma Evans. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Keri Evans Marlar.
Rudy was loved and adored by his family. He relished his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving 4 years earning the rank of Tech Sgt. He also proudly served in the South Carolina Army National Guard for 31 years retiring as a Staff Sgt. Rudy was a soft spoken, wise and quick-witted man who was admired and respected by all who knew him. He loved kids and children of all ages were drawn to him. He was a longtime faithful member of Temple Baptist Church where he served in many areas throughout the years.
Rudy enjoyed many things including fishing, old westerns, cars, and Hank Williams, Sr. But anyone who knew Rudy knew how much he loved NASCAR. One of his cherished memories was being behind the wheel of a race car at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the NASCAR racing experience that was gifted to him by his family. He also enjoyed working with his hands, learning how things worked and how they could be repaired.
Rudy left a lifetime of love and memories that his family will cherish forever.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Doster and staff, the Anderson Cancer Center Infusion Team, and the staff at Rainey Hospice House for the wonderful care provided to Rudy. Above all, the family wishes to thank the many family and friends for their prayers, gifts, food, and company, during his cancer journey.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Sue King Evans; daughters, Susan Evans Rizo and her husband Mark, Lori Evans Milford and her husband Billy; son-in-law, Daniel Marlar; grandchildren, Drew Milford, Logan Milford and his wife Carina, Callie Marlar, and Camryn Marlar; great grandchildren Cooper Milford and Lexton Milford; brother, Landis Evans; and sister, Galen Wright and her husband Bobby.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm at Temple Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Dr. Steve Hurte and Rev. Mike Hawkins officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621, Vets Helping Vets Anderson, P.O. Box 265, Anderson, SC 29622, or Temple Baptist Church Kids Church Camp, 2905 Standridge Rd., Anderson, SC 29625.
