'Al' Stone, age 85, husband of Jannie Stone of 6608 Dobbins Bridge Road, died Saturday, October 25, 2008 at his residence.Born December 10, 1922, Mr. Stone was the son of the late James Henry Stone and Ethel Shellnut Stone. He served his country during WWII in the United States Air Force. He enlisted in September 1942 and in 1943 graduated from the Army Air Force Technical Training in Communications from Yale University and was commissioned Second Lieutenant. He retired from Michelin Tire Corporation in Sandy Springs and was a HAM Radio operator. Mr. Stone was a member of Andersonville Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon. Survivors include his wife, Jannie Stone; children, Carol Loveridge of Greenville, Brenda J. Brown, Sandra Adams, Jane Orr, Deborah Power, all of Anderson and Albert R. Stone of the home; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Josephine Ayala Stone and a son, James Michael Stone.A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 3:00 pm at Andersonville Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Upstate Veterans Honor Guard. Reverend Bruce Evans will officiate. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, October 27, 2008 from 6-9 pm.The family will be at the residence.The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
