ALBERTA CHAPMAN August 1, 1909 - June 12, 2007ANDERSON, SCAlberta Josephine Buchanan Chapman, age 97 121 Farmer Street, Anderson, SC, wife of the late Anderson A. Chapman, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Anderson County on August 1, 1909, Mrs. Chapman was a daughter of the late Hiriam M. Buchanan and Luginia Shaw Buchanan. She was retired from Scott Shirt Company with 28 years of service. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World, former member of the Toxaway Woman's Club. Mrs. Chapman was also a member of Riverside Baptist Church and the Young at Heart Group.Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Chapman Griffin; a brother, Jasper Buchanan; sister, Lavenia Cargill, all of Anderson, SC; sister, Etrulia Corvar of Edgefield, SC; four grandchildren, Charles III, Billy, Stanley and Eddie Griffin and four great-grandchildren, Shannon and Robert Griffin, Kelly Lassiter and Billy Griffin, Jr.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Glint 'Pinky' and Major Buchanan and a son-in-law, Charles Griffin, Jr.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in New Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.The family will be at the residence and at the home of grandson, Billy Griffin, 326 Simpson Road, Anderson, SC.Flowers are optional.
