Alfred Juan Santiago, age 91, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born September 29, 1930, in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late Juan Santiago and Alice Edwards Santiago.
Alfred joined the military at an early age and served in the Marines, Navy and finally retiring from the Air Force. He also was very involved in prison ministry. Alfred was a member of Barker's Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Cressey Strickland Santiago of the home; children, Janet Bice of Ozark, MO, Dale Santiago of New York, Melody Santiago of New York, and Dean Santiago of New York; daughter-in-law, Delores Strickland of Belton, SC; grandchildren, Alexia Santiago Giampaolo and Adam Joshua Santiago of New York; step grandchildren, Jennifer Ruggeberg (Adam) of Gardner, KS, Ray Strickland, II of Pompano Beach, FL, and Sarah Smith (Greg) of Fort Bragg, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Ray Strickland; and numerous siblings.
A private service will be held at a later date.
