Alice Ussery McCurry Phillips, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Iva Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born in Iva, SC on August 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Ussery and the late Ruby Burton Ussery. She was a graduate of Iva High School and worked in textiles at Jackson Mill. Alice was a member of Union Baptist Church of Iva. She is survived by her loving children, Leslie McCurry and his wife Melinda of Iva, SC and Rebecca Maxwell and her husband Chris of Antreville, SC ; a brother, Bob Ussery, of Fountain Inn, SC; sisters, Pauline Gaines of Rock Branch, GA and Mildred Fleming, of Lyman, SC; and grandchildren, Thomas Leslie McCurry, April Beard, Holly Craft, Ashley Nicholson, Trevor Maxwell, Jon Morgan Maxwell, and Amelia Maxwell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Leslie "Jack" McCurry; and two grandsons, Billy Jack McCurry and Austin Maxwell. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church of Iva with Reverend Mike McMillion officiating. Interment will follow at Iva City Cemetery. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Ark Hospice, 101 Grace Drive, Easley, SC 29640.
