Aline Greenway Hickman, age 92, of Belton, died peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2015, at National Health Care of Anderson. Born on January 18, 1923, in Athens, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Greenway and the late Rose Kelly Greenway. For forty-eight years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Jones M. Hickman, Sr. until his death in 1998. Mrs. Hickman was a devoted homemaker for her family and she enjoyed sewing and quilt making. She made dolls and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Aline made clothes and quilts which she donated to Anderson Memorial Hospital for premature babies. She was such a gentle soul who did not have much, but what she had she was more than willing to share. Aline gave of herself to others unconditionally. She was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church. Left to carry on her legacy are five children, Jones Milton Hickman, Jr. of Belton, Charles Ray Hickman of Belton, Beverly Gallant (George) of Belton, Connie Middleswarth (John) of Zebulon, NC, and Angela Marquez (Paz) of Belton. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Jones, Mrs. Hickman was preceded in death by her children, Brenda Jane and Carrol Wayne Hickman; a brother, Martin G. Greenway; and two sisters, Dora G. Greenway and Pauline G. Marsh. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, September 7, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Belton City Cemetery in Belton, SC, with Rev. Dr. Wendell Bannister officiating. The family will be at the residence of Beverly and George Gallant, 460 Brooks Road, Belton, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, September 7, 2015, from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff of NHC Anderson for the loving care shown to their mother during her residency.
