Alma Jean Loggins Yates, 80, of Starr, SC, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 at her home. Born July 16, 1940 in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late R.L. Loggins and Jessie Simpson Loggins. She was married to Herbert Wayne Yates until his death in October 2016. Alma was retired from Schmid Labs where she was a product inspector. She was the Pastor at Faith Memorial Tabernacle and loved her church family. Alma was a minister for over 53 years and was dedicated to God, family and church. She is survived by her children, Herbert M. Yates (Jill) of Boiling Springs, SC and Rosemary Yates (Michael) of Anderson, SC; daughter-in-law, Lesa Yates of Starr, SC; sister, Nell Whitfield of Anderson, SC; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved pet poodle, Bear. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, John Wayne Yates; three brothers; and six sisters. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Faith Memorial Tabernacle. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 pm with Rev. Mike Harrell and Rev. Nick Smith officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Patriot Hospice, 101 Grace Dr., Easley, SC 29640 and Faith Memorial Tabernacle, 290 West Point Dr., Anderson, SC 29624. The family would like to express their gratitude to a special friend, Brittany Wilson and to Patriot Hospice for the loving care they provided to Mrs. Yates during her illness.
