Strickland, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2010.Born in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Henry Vaughn and Lula Dorr Vaughn. Mrs. Strickland retired from textiles after 45 years of service from Appleton Mill and was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. She was famous for making her 'Cat Head' biscuits.Survivors include her son, Jimmy V. Strickland and his wife, Patricia; daughter-in-law, Betty B. Strickland; four grandchildren, Michael, Mark and Kim Strickland and Cynthia S. Adams and her husband Brian; four great-grandchildren; niece, Emily Brock and nephew, Chester Metcalfe. Also surviving are special family members, Patsy Lowe and her children, Tommy Lowe and Cindy Snellgrove. She was predeceased by her son, Gary Strickland; two sisters and her cat of 18 years, 'Yellow'.A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park officiated by the Reverend Charles Howell. The family will be at the residence.The family would like to thank her caregiver, Joe Richardson for his special attention given to Mrs. Strickland through the years.Memorials may be made to Broadway Volunteer Fire Dept.
