MCCLAIN FEBRUARY 6, 1921 - JULY 20, 2012 ANDERSON, SC Alvie Marie Ellenburg McClain, age 91, wife of the late Olin Augustus McClain, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Ellenburg Nursing Center. Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Waddy Ernest Ellenburg and Lena Jane Alexander Ellenburg. Mrs. McClain grew up in the Six Mile area, and then she graduated from the Asheville Teachers College. She worked for many years with the Bruce Johnson Trucking Company in Charlotte NC. She was very devoted to her family and had a true servant's heart for those around her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC. She is survived by her two sons, Don McClain, Sr. and his wife Gail of Rome, GA, Earl McClain and his wife, Cathey of Anderson; daughter, Marie Monroe and her husband, Jim of Gastonia, NC; one brother, Eugene Ellenburg of Easley, SC; sisters, Eleanor Lawson of Simpsonville, SC, Evelyn Vaughn and Peggy Autrey both of Greenville, SC; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grand children. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde, Wyatt, Clifton, Albert, Maurice and Lavoy Ellenburg. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 11:30 am at the Gaston Memorial Park Cemetery, in Gastonia, NC. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm before the service.
