ALVIN A. CHAMBERS December 7, 1933 - August 8, 2012 PIEDMONT, SC Alvin Adger Chambers, Jr., age 78, of Piedmont, SC, husband of Janette Finley Chambers, passed away on August 8, 2012 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born in Anderson, Alvin was the son of the late Alvin Adger Chambers, Sr. and Mazelle Butler Shaw. He was a graduate of Boys High School, Forrest Business College and Erskine College. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, serving as a naval airman electrician. He retired as an Agent with the IRS after 30 years of service. He was a faithful member of Taylors First Baptist Church. He was an avid coin collector and model airplane builder, passing on that love of airplanes to his grandson. Survivors include, his wife of 55 years; his son, Randall Keith Chambers and his wife Sarah Pennell Chambers of Spartanburg; one grandson, Alexander Pennell Chambers; his siblings, Randolph Chambers of Gaffney, SC, Betty Louise Sartin of Concord, NC, James Thomas Shaw, Sr. of Anderson and Jeff Chambers of Honea Path, SC; a sister-in-law, Helen Thompson of Anderson, SC, and two special nieces, Angie Privette and Pam Kaler, both of Concord, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Lynn Baker and her husband, Earl Lewis Baker, Jr. The Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11 am in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, Spartanburg, SC, with the Reverend Dr. William L. Arthur officiating. The committal service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at 3:30 pm with military honors. The family will receive friends following the Funeral service in the church parlor.
