Mr. Amiel Herbert King, 83, of Anderson, SC died on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at his home. He was born on September 8, 1933 to the late Jess and Myrtice Thomas King in Toccoa, GA. Mr. King was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church and worked as a quality control technician at Owens Corning for several years before retiring. Mr. King is survived by his wife of 55 years: Peggy Bennett King; his children: Mark King of Anderson, SC and Shawn King and wife Tammy of Simpsonville, SC; and his grandchildren: a grandson: Nicholas King and two great grandchildren: Avery and Addison. In addition to his parents Mr. King was preceded in death by four brothers: Harold, Roy, Joe, and Houston King and two sisters: Emily King and Mildred Truax. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017at 2:00p.m. in the gymnasium at Whitefield Baptist Church with the Reverends Ray Ridgeway, Jeremy Smith, and Ralph Ashley officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The King family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. on Thursday evening March 16, 2017 at the funeral home.
