OBITUARY FLAGAMOS A. DANIELApril 20, 1924 - June 16, 2007IVA, SCAmos Alton Daniel, age 83, husband of Velma Arnold Daniel, of 400 West Church Street, Iva, SC, died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at his residence.Born in Elberton, GA on April 20, 1924, Mr. Daniel was a son of the late George Thomas Daniel and Vesta Ward Daniel. He was a graduate of Rock Branch School in Elberton County. Mr. Daniel was a United States Navy veteran serving during WWII in the invasion of Normandy. He worked for Toxaway Mills for many years, and then he worked for the Michelin Tire Company for ten years before his retirment. He was a member of the American Legion and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife, Velma Arnold Daniel of the home; sons, Jimmy Daniel and his wife, Amanda and Eddie Daniel, all of Iva, SC; daughters, JoAnn Waters and her husband Randy, Elaine 'Lanie' Brooks and her husband Mike, all of Iva, SC; brother, Clinton Daniel of Iva; sisters, Nettie Mullinex of Greenville, SC and Sara Tomlinson of Anderson. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Cindy Vickery and her husband, Phil of Greenwood, SC, Kaurie Young and her husband, Robert of Bradley, SC, Chad Waters and his wife Kara of Anderson, John Waters and his wife Ashley of Charleston, SC, Paul Brooks, and Aaron Brooks and his wife, Candice, all of Anderson, and nine great-grandchildren, Luke, Morgan and Grant Vickery, Rob and Karis Young, Jesse and Eric Waters, Avery Brooks and Kohen Brooks.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Parker, Wilson, and Clyde Daniel; sisters, Cecil Charping and Nannie Bell Teasley.The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 11:00 am at Good Hope Baptist Church with the Reverends Curtis Bundy, Tony Tilley, and David Pickens officiating. Interment will follow at the Iva City Cemetery with Military Honors.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, June 18, 2007 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mr. Daniel will be placed in the church one hour before the service on Tuesday.The family will be at the home.Flowers are optional.
