Amy June Burton, age 85, of Iva, SC, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Hospice of the Upstate. She was born June 14, 1936 to Olivia Copeland Burton and Emory Goss Burton of Iva, SC. Amy was a graduate of Iva High School, Anderson College, and the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in Education. She taught third grade in the local school system for 27 years in Starr. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Iva and a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School class. Amy loved the farm life, the outdoors, and music. She played the accordion and the piano. She loved all animals and was particularly fond of cats. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Dixie; and brother, William J. Burton. She is survived by two brothers, Emory Gwinn Burton and Roger Rush Burton; and two sisters, Margaret Burton Gentry and Betty Lou Burton Johnson. A private graveside service was held Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Iva City Cemetery.
