Miss Frances Ann Friend "A. Friend", died Saturday, September 12, 2015. Ann was 83. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Amel and Irene Brasda Friend, also four brothers, Fred Allison Friend, James Louis Friend, John Clarence Friend, and Father Francis Amel Friend. She is survived by one sister, Irene Virginia Barton of Arizona; and several nephews and nieces. Ann was life-long resident of Anderson and member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was a recipient of the Franciscan Medal of honor, as a life-long supporter of Parish and Community activities. "She gave freely of her time and talents and as such demonstrated with her life the Franciscan Virtue of Perseverance", said Father Ignatius Smith. Ann was a retiree of Duke Power Energy and was the first recipient of the Robinson Citizen award for community service, which recognized employees for outstanding achievements supporting citizenship and service. Ann was a member of The Knights of Columbus and a life-time member of Anderson County Woman's Club. Funeral service will be held Friday, September, 18th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. Friends will be received prior to services.
