Ann Weathers Huitt, age 87, died Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at home surrounded and lifted up by the love of her devoted family. A lifelong resident of Anderson, South Carolina, Mrs. Huitt was the only child of the late Mrs. Mary Belle Manly Weathers and the late Mr. George Wesley Weathers. She was married to the love of her life, Shirley Huitt for 63 years until his death in 2016.
Mrs. Huitt had many accomplishments in her life, including the honor of serving for 43 years on the Anderson School District 5 Board of Trustees, the longest tenure of any board member in South Carolina. She was the co-owner with her husband of the family business, Shirley Huitt & Sons Automotive Service, was a faithful member of Robert's Presbyterian Church and raised her six beloved children, who she is survived by: Sheryl Winstead (late Dan), Timothy (Barbara), Chris (Lynne), Mark (Robin), Laurie Scarborough (Donnie), and Lynne Fairey (Burke). She was deeply loved and admired by her 16 grandchildren, Daniel Winstead, Jr. (Sarah), Ian Huitt (Cathlyn), Brandon Scarborough (Heather), Tori Sams (Matthew), Catlin Waldrop (Spencer), Holly Huitt (Oliver), Huitt Scarborough (Tammy), Lyndsey Long (Jacob), Justin Huitt (Kels), Anna Fairey, Emily Cape (Matt), Wesley Scarborough (Taylor), Meghann Huitt (Michael), Lauren Crouch (Rooke), C.J. Huitt (Natalie), and Tripp Fairey. She was idolized by her 20 great grandchildren, Blakely, Layla, Jonah, Jackson, Eliza Kay, Violet, Rhett, Knox, Heath, Eamon, Mary Alice, Julia, Reed, Wilson, Joseph, Jack, Nolan, Tilly Grace, Johnny, and Georgia.
Mrs. Huitt, known as Nana Ann even outside of her family, was gracious, graceful, intelligent, and kind. She was not only friendly and generous to those she met, but unfailingly interested and curious in all things, often impressing her grandchildren with her technical prowess. Those who were lucky enough to be close to her knew what it was like to bask in her attention and those lucky enough to have been loved by her are forever changed. She will be terribly missed.
A service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Ann Huitt will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 3:00 pm at Huitt Farms. Visitation will immediately follow the service. The family requests that those in attendance follow Covid safety protocols.
