Ann Stephens, age 70, affectionately known as "Mama Ann" passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Anderson, SC on July 20, 1946, she was the daughter of the late James Sumpter and the late Minnie Poole Sumpter. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, J.C. Stephens; her daughters, Julie Tyson, of Anderson, SC, April Stephens, of Belton, SC and Jennifer Leigh Stephens, of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren. Devin Turner, who was raised in the home, Jala Brown and her husband Thomas, Lyndsie Poole, and Sydnie Stephens; three great-granddaughters, Raelyn King, Jaylee King, and Nora Kate Brown. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Curtis Bundy officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends, on Wednesday, at the funeral home prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Flowers are optional.
