TURPENAUGUST 20, 1945 - NovemBER 24, 2011ANDERSON, SC 'Ann Hilliard Turpen, age 66, resident of 219 Phil Watson Road, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2011, at AnMed Health Medical Center.Born August 20, 1945, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ray Hilliard Sr. and Peggy Bolt Hilliard. She was a 1963 graduate of T. L. Hanna High School and later received her real estate licensure from the Wyatt Institute in Greenville. Following a thirty year medical career in the office of Dr. B.R. Ewing, Ann pursued a successful career as a Realtor. She was affiliated with Keller-Williams Upstate and was also a member of the 'Million Dollar Club' several times. Mrs. Turpen was active within the medical field auxiliaries as well as local real estate associations, but she was most passionate about supporting local charities such as Anderson Interfaith Ministries, Calvary Home for Children, and local chapters of the American Heart Association. She was a member of NewSpring Community Church. Two of her cherished pastimes were spent watching the Atlanta Braves and enjoying her grandchildren. Her love for others was best exemplified as she showed love to all in need. She is survived by her beloved children: daughter, Kim Turpen Gaston and husband, Skeeter Gaston, of Seneca, SC, and their children: Haley Gaston and Kiley Gaston; son, Jon Turpen and wife, April Turpen, of Anderson, SC, and their children: Emily Turpen, Alston Turpen, and Andrew Turpen; daughter, Kelly Turpen Sutton and husband, Daryle Sutton, of Anderson, SC; son, Kevin Turpen and wife, Julie Turpen, of Anderson, SC, and their children: Kaitlyn Williamson, Cameron Turpen, and Logan Turpen; sister, Jean Hilliard Smith of Anderson, SC; mother-in-law, Anne 'Nanny' Turpen of Williamston, SC; two special friends: Beverly Henderson-Simes of Anderson, SC, and Jack McCormick of Anderson, SC. Ann was pleased to soon have her first great grandchild, Aalayah Concepcion. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Alston Turpen; one daughter, Karen Denise Turpen; one sister, Mary H. Sutherland; and two brothers: Ray Hilliard Jr. and Jimmy Hilliard.The Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Monday, November 28, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Bob Marcaurelle. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family is at the home and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 5:30pm until 7:30pm on Sunday.
