Obituary

Mrs. Ann Ballentine Grisso Walker, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018 in Suwanee, GA. She was 88 years old. Ann was born in Anderson, SC April 6, 1930. She was the daughter of Robert Lee Ballentine and Ruby McMillan Ballentine. Ann was a graduate of Duke University. She was a high school history and English teacher in the SC school system for over 35 years, and spent many years at Fripp Island, SC where she made lifelong friends. Ann never met a stranger and her love and compassion for others was unlimited. She was also an avid gardener. She loved entertaining friends and was the ultimate host. Her greatest joy in life was her four children and two grandchildren. She was a tireless, loving, and giving mother/grandmother. A true gift. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Alva S. Walker, Jr. and her son, John Kennedy Grisso, Jr. She is survived by her son: Robert Ballentine Grisso and his wife Barbara of Atlanta, GA; daughter: Mary Blake Grisso of Astoria, New York; daughter: Allison Grisso Costarene and husband Dan of Greenwich, Connecticut and their two children Ansley and Kaitlin. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm at Old Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson Friday Jan. 4, 2019. The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 156 Milestone Way, Suite A, Greenville, SC 29615.
