Anna Hnatiuk Metz, 103, of Anderson, SC, passed away, Monday, January 11, 2021, at NHC Healthcare Anderson. She was born December 22, 1917, in Long Island City, NY, and was the daughter of the late Damien Daniel Hnatiuk and Anna Petro Hnatiuk. She was married for 56 years to her best friend, Joseph Martin Metz until his death in 1995. Anna was a 1935 graduate of Battin High School in Elizabeth, NJ. Prior to her graduation, she began working at Simmons Mattress Company and after the birth of her first of four children, she became a homemaker for the rest of her life. In 1959, she and her husband moved to Pickens, SC and later to Anderson, SC in 1965. In her spare time, Anna was an avid bridge player and bowler. She was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1965 and served for many years on the Bereavement Committee. She is survived by her children, Joseph Alan Metz (Barbara), Richard Paul Metz (Casina), Joanne Confonti, and Daniel Robert Metz (Kathy) all of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Marty Metz (Karen), Robbie Metz, Chris Metz and Michael Atkins; and great-grandchildren, Jessica Metz, Ashley Metz, Zack Metz, and Madison Atkins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Hnatiuk; and sisters, Olga Luster, and Mary Derosa. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral mass will follow at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Philips S. Gillespie officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
