Anne Young Davenport Sweetman, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, just a few days after celebrating her 98th birthday. She was the only daughter of the late Drs. Charles Henry and Anne Austin Young. Anne's legacy extends beyond her impressive age.

She is survived by her two sons, John Young Davenport and Charles Henry Davenport, and her three grandchildren, Anna Becht and Nathan Lacy, children of her late daughter Nancy, and Jennifer Davenport, daughter of Charles.

Anne loved gardening and rarely traveled, spending most of her time tending to her large flower and vegetable gardens. She loved music and could play the harp and piano, playing impressive Chopin well into her 70s. She was fiercely protective of her friends and if you were one, you found she would quickly go into "warrior mode" to defend you against any slight. She had the same devotion to her country and supported many patriotic political causes.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 am at The McDougald Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at 11:30 am with Dr. Dennis Tedder officiating.
