Annie Grace Smith, 89, loving wife of the late Robert M. Smith until his death in 2014, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at her residence at Morningside of Anderson. Born in Anderson, SC, she is the daughter of the late E.P. Gambrell and Maudie Lee Patton Gambrell. Annie was a graduate of Pendleton High School and worked as a secretary for Anderson School District V where she later retired. She was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church and will be remembered most for her sweet spirit and her endearing love for others. Annie is survived by her sister, Doris McCall. She was like a mother to her nephews, Henry Lee (Dottie), Chester Gambrell, Michael Kinley, David Gambrell (Jackie) and Steve McCall (Janice) and her niece, Kathy Bostock (Bill). She was also like a grandmother to her great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be missed by all of them. In addition to her parents, and husband, Robert, Annie was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Lee and Barbara Kinley; and brother, James Gambrell. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 19, 2020 from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow visitation on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Jeff Doughty officiating. The family will be at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Annie's honor to Pope Drive Baptist Church, 2510 Pope Dr., Anderson, SC 29625, and Connie Maxwell Children's Home, 810 Maxwell Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
