ANSEL OWEN September 28, 1912 - March 20, 2007 ANDERSON, SCMr. Ansel Ojie Owen, age 94, husband of the late Ruth Griffith Owen, formerly of 207 James Street, Anderson, SC, and Bailey Manor of Clinton, SC, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at the Hospice Care of Piedmont in Greenwood, SC.Born in Pendleton, SC, on September 28, 1912, Mr. Owen was a son of the late Daniel 'Dee' Van Owen and Ollie Hicks Owen. He graduated from Melton School and was a longtime member of Six and Twenty Baptist Church in Pendleton and The First Baptist Church in Anderson. He worked with Daniel Construction Company, Bell Bomber Plant in Marietta, GA, Famous Foods of Virginia, Piedmont Candy and Cigar, and Sullivan Hardware Company in Anderson, and also owned Palmetto Electrical Wholesale Company and a general wholesale business. He was a member of the Barnette Lodge #106, A.F.M. and Anderson York Rite Bodies and the Hejaz Shrine.Surviving are his daughter, Barbara Owen Wessinger and son-in-law, Dr. Carl Wessinger of Clinton, SC; four grandchildren, Dr. Derek Wessinger (Jean) of Gray Court, Karen W. Carroll, J. D. (David) of Richmond, VA, Dr. Kevin Wessinger (Jodie) of Columbia, SC and Brian Wessinger of Clinton, SC; as well as ten great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Jessica, Jennifer and Emily Wessinger; Will, Katie, Daniel and Ben Carroll; and Kelli and Alex Wessinger.The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Mark Hopkins.
