Born in Iva, SC he was the son of the late Johnny Jackson Bannister and the late Eva Yeargin Bannister. Mr. Bannister had worked for Jackson Mills for 47 years, and attended the Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class. He is survived by his wife of 66 years and by his son, Ray Bannister and his wife, Peggy of Iva, SC; brother, Gerald T. Bannister of Starr, SC; sister, Linda Black of Starr, SC; two grandchildren, Scott Bannister, Mike Bannister and his wife, Kim; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Bannister, Justin Bannister and his wife, Amber, and O'Malley Bannister; one great-great grandchild, Mychal Bannister. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Ester Bannister. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Reverend Billy Pinson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at the home of his grandson, Mike & Kim Bannister, 404 Antreville Highway, Iva SC 29655 and will be receiving friends on Monday, February 18, 2013 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home.
