He served his country in the United States Navy for eight years and retired in 1990 from the Civil Service working at Polaris Missile Facilities Atlantic.Survivors include his son, James Michael Brown and his wife, Mellie Brown of Summerville, SC; daughters: Karyn D. Ross; Cindy M. Duncan and her husband, Roger Duncan and Carol Lynn Crumpler and her husband, Jerry Crumpler, Jr., all of Summerville, SC; siblings, Dale Brown and Linda Vinson, both of Iva, SC; eight grandchildren, John and Amber Ross, Jessica, Jamie Brown and Michael Brown, Jr., Tabitha and Stephanie Crumpler, and Jackson Duncan.
