The McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, SC 29621864-224-4343OBITUARY w/FLAG ARTHUR DICKSON November 19, 1921 - November 28, 2010 ANDERSON, SC Arthur Dickson, age 89, husband of Betty Jo Dunn Dickson of 5543 Dobbins Bridge Road, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Hartwell, GA on November 19, 1921, Mr. Dickson was a son of the late Eddie Arthur Dickson and Omie Mae Byrum Dickson. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Technical Corporal 5th Armored Division. He was employed with Sears as an appliance repairman for several years before starting Dickson Appliance Service in 1975. Mr. Dickson was a charter member of the Center Rock Fire Department; served for 23 years on the Board of Directors of the West Anderson Water Department; was an official at the Anderson Speedway and volunteered at the Anderson Hospital. He was a lifetime member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he served in many capacities including Deacon, Music Director and Treasurer. Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter, Sheila Reed and her husband, Jimmy sons, Tommy Dickson and his wife, Millie, Steve Dickson and fianc', Mickey, David Dickson and Ricky Dickson and his wife, Terri; Mark Dickson and his wife, Tammy and Tim Dickson and his wife, Missy; all of Anderson; sisters, Ruby Nell Childerss of Charlotte, NC, Audrey Owens of Pendleton and Leeotis Clark of Anderson; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, James Gartrell Dickson and Duel Dickson.The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Shiloh Baptist Church officiated by the Reverends Brry Davis, Billy Ray Whitfield and Craig Neil. Interment will follow with Military Honors in the church cemetery.The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Mr. Dickson will be placed in the church at 1:00 pm on Wednesday.Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 4405 SC 187 South, Starr, SC 29684.
