Arthur "Art" Bernard Henderson, age 87, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Waycross GA, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Henderson, Sr. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 26 years as Chief Petty Officer. He worked for many years as the Operations Manager at Carolina Power and Light. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, he was active in the C.F. Kirby Men's Sunday School Class and he was a Golden Ambassador Senior Adult.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Poore Henderson of the home; a son, David Michael Henderson and his wife Gwen of Fayeteville, TN; two step-sons. James David Poore and his wife Willette of Anderson and Michael Stanton Poore and his wife Lisa of Anderson; a step-daughter, Debbie Driskoll of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Joan Dunks of Kerriville, TX; three grandchildren, Todd Henderson, Brian Moss and John Paul Poore; and three great-grandchildren, Chesney Moss, Michael Lewis Moss and Bella Moss.
The Funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Glenn Taylor and Reverend Gordon Taylor officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 11:00 am, at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of Jimmy and Willette Poore, 406 Berkshire Hill, Anderson, SC 29621 and will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
