Arthur Henry McMahon, age 76, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home. Born August 18, 1946, in White Plains, NY, he was the son of the late Gordon McMahon and Catherine Cobleigh McMahon. Arthur received his undergraduate degree from Colgate University, his master's degree from Mercer University, and his doctorate from the University of New Mexico. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force serving his country for 4 years. Arthur enjoyed a long career in education teaching high school and college English with the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District in New York before retiring to the Anderson area. He loved traveling extensively with his wife, old cars and coin collecting. His daughter and grandchildren were his greatest joy and he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Davis-McMahon; daughter, Karyn Lutz (Spain) of Anderson; twin grandchildren, William and Olivia Lutz; cousins, friends, and thousands of former students. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from 1:00-3:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. Mr. McMahon will be buried at a later date at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
