Mr. Stancil served in the US Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award. He was a retired teamster with McLean Trucking Company and was a member of Centerville Church of God.Survivors include his children: Brenda Stancil Akins and husband, Fred Gerald Akins of Canon, GA, Danny L. Stancil and wife, Carolyn Campbell Stancil of Anderson, and Deborah Stancil Ducworth and husband, Ronald E. Ducworth of Anderson; grandchildren: Freddy Akins, Jr., Kip Akins, Wendy Kidd, Caleb Akins, Tonya James, Michael Stancil, Shan Stancil, Jason Ducworth, Jody Ducworth, and Shelley McDade; and twenty-one great grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Wendell June King Stancil; and his eleven siblings: Ernest Stancil, James Leo Stancil, Bertha S. Lewis, Homer Franklin Stancil, Carrie Lee Stancil, Willie Stancil, Oscar Dwayne Stancil, Robert Edgar Stancil, Eunice S. White, Lawrence Stancil, and Luther Stancil.The Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 21, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Lloyd Stancil, the Reverend Joshua Caleb Akins, and the Reverend Larry Stancil.
