ATLAS NEWTON Atlas Jay Newton, age 36, of 11 Saluda Street, passed away at his residence on Monday, May 26, 2014. Born on April 22, 1978, he was the son of Mrs. Marion David Newton of Williamston, and the late Freddie Ray Newton. Atlas was a member of Restoration Chapel in Williamston. Survivors include his wife, Misty M. Newton; a son, Bradley Ray Newton, and a daughter Amber Kinsley Newton, all of the residence. Also surviving is an uncle, Kenneth Newton. Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Angie Newton, maternal grandparents Louie and Lydia Davis, and paternal grandparents Fred and Helen Newton. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014, at 1 PM, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph James officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories in Belton. The family is at the home of Misty's grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Gahr, 102 Springdale Drive, Belton, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, May 29, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of Atlas be made to assist with expenses.
