Audrey King Cain, age 97, of Anderson, SC, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Born February 12, 1925, in Akron, OH, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Marian King and Sarah Jane Simpkins King. She was married to the late Aubrey Samuel Cain. Audrey formerly worked as a nurse's aide at Charleston General Hospital in Charleston, WV. Affectionately known as "Grandma", she was a strong-willed lady who enjoyed crafting and growing vegetables in her garden. Audrey loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Ray Cain (Jeannie) of Anderson, SC; daughter, Doris Jean Kessinger of Iva, SC; brothers, Carl, Charles, and Arthur King; sisters, Barbara Cooper and Anita Gilbert; grandchildren, Jaden Cain, Ernie Caine, Tammy Renee Thaxton, Tammy Renee Galloway, Edward Albert Joseph Kessinger, Jr., and Michael Patrick Kessinger; 16 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Aubrey Samuel Cain, Jr.; grandsons, Alan Cain and Dennis Cain; and 4 brothers. The family will receive friends Friday, March 25, 2022, from 1:30-3:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Carl Dockins and Chaplain Craig Williams officiating. Burial will be at King-Mullins Cemetery in Bomont, WV at a later date.
