"ABBY" WILLIAMS September 5, 1925 - June 28, 2013 Avis "Abby" Laura Saxon Williams, age 87, of 302 D Street, went to join Jesus and her beloved husband, Sol, on Friday, June 28, 2013, upon her death at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Abbeville County, SC, she was the daughter of the late John H. Saxon and the late Dora Bell Smith Saxon. For 69 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late T.J. Solomon Williams until his death in 2010. Mrs. Williams was a home maker and a member of Centerville Church of God. She enjoyed making crafts for others to enjoy. Abby also had a green thumb and loved her flower garden. Survivors include 3 sons, John W. Williams, Gael Williams and his wife, Marsha, Ted J. Williams and his wife, Shelly, all of Anderson; and a daughter, Esther Bowman of Anderson. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Ann Williams Smith; a granddaughter, Marie Ashworth; sisters, Leona Hagood, Dorothy Wiles and Floree Shinall; and brothers, William Saxon and Odis Saxon. Abby was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Williams will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013, at 2 PM at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Terry Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, July 1, 2013, from 12 noon until 1:30 PM.
