Awverne Helen Reed Horne, 90, of Starr, SC, passed away, December 18, 2020 at Iva Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Born August 27, 1930 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Manson Reed and Clara Risner Reed. She was married to the late Samuel Melvin Horne. Awverne worked for many years in the textile industry and also spent time as a caregiver. She was a member of Belmont Church of God of Prophecy. She is survived by her children, Brenda Brown Myers of Royston, GA, Kathy Edgar (Oscar) of Starr, SC, Ronnie Horne of Starr, SC, and Jimmy Brown (Cetia) of Hartwell, GA; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by eight siblings. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 8, 2021, at 11:00 am at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
