Barbara Jeanne Cornwell Gurley, age 82, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at her residence. Born in Anderson, SC, on May 19, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John Ross Cornwell, Sr. and the late Vivian Carter Cornwell. She was a graduate of Girl's High School and Anderson College. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her loving husband, Franklin Delano Gurley; and three daughters, Elaine Payne and her husband Greg, Lynn Whitfield and her husband Greg, and Beth Moore, all of Anderson, SC; a brother, John Ross Cornwell, Jr., of Pendleton, SC; and three grandchildren, Catherine Payne, Justin Whitfield and his wife Katelyn, and Carson McIntire and her husband Kyle. The Graveside Service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. David Bailey officiating. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, August 1, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 1404 North Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621.
