BARBARA BROWN HAMMOND Barbara Brown Hammond, age 69, of 101 Mountain Oak Court, passed away on Tuesday, October 07, 2014, at Rainey Hospice House, with her family at her side. Born in Anderson on June 27, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Evoid Brown and the late Fannie Elizabeth McCurley Brown. For 49 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of Robert Lee Hammond of the residence. Mrs. Hammond was a 1963 graduate of T. L. Hanna High School, and then graduated from Limestone College with a B.A. Degree. She received a M.Ed. Degree from Clemson University. For 25 years, Barbara was an instructor at Tri-County Tech where she taught Continuing Education courses in the Office Skills Lab. Mrs. Hammond enjoyed gardening and cooking. She had a love of flowers and books. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a cherished person and educator who touched the lives of many people, and who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Barbara was a long time member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Robert, Barbara is survived by a son, Robert Jason Hammond and his wife Jennifer, of Anderson; a daughter, Angela "Angie" Denise Wolff and husband Michael, of Anderson; 2 brothers, Doug Brown and wife Sherry of Anderson, and Roger Dale Payton and wife, Betty, of Elberton, GA; a beloved sister Carol Brown Sears and husband Jimmy, of Anderson; 3 grandchildren, Hailey Wolff, Bradley Skelton, and Zachary Skelton; a best friend, Linda Harper, of Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Brown and a sister, Gail Brown. A funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Hammond will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Kirt Mitchell and Rev. Phil Clardy officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
