Barbara Ligon Johnston, age 91, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 at her home. Born August 20, 1926 in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Prue Benson Ligon and the late Floride Harris Cauthen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Preston Johnston, Jr. She graduated from the University of South Carolina and was a retired biology teacher for Orangeburg County Schools. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anderson and Past Regent of the DAR, Cateechee Chapter. She is survived by her son, Dr. Joel P. Johnston, Sr. (Patti) of Murrell's Inlet, SC; daughters, Janet B. Johnston of Anderson, SC and Galen A. Johnston, of Lexington, SC; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm, on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 3:30 pm Tuesday with Dr. Dennis Tedder officiating. Burial will be in Old Silver Brook Cemetery.
