Barbara Jean Henry Lick, 85, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at AnMed Medical Center.

Born March 7, 1938, in Houston, TX, she was a daughter of the late William Nathaniel Henry and the late Mary Lancaster Henry. She was married for 60 years to her sweetheart, James Samuel Lick who passed away in February 2022.

Barbara spent her career building and managing the perfect home for her family. James was a chemical engineer and his first job was in Houston, Texas for an oil drilling company. There, at a dance, Barbara met James. They married on February 14, 1962. After a few more career moves, Barbara and James retired in Anderson, SC. For over a decade, she was a prayer volunteer with Guidepost magazine, was a den mother for the Cub Scouts, loved reading mysteries, never missed a chance to bake for family and friends, worked crossword puzzles, loved knitting and crochet, and could be found in her spare time, birdwatching from her deck. Barbara loved her family and her church, St. Johns United Methodist Church. But her pride and joy, the exact purpose of her life, was her grandchildren. She enjoyed her many talents and interests, but doting on her grandchildren was by far her greatest skill.

Wonderful memories will be held close by her precious children, Michael Lick (wife Wendy) of Kingsport, TN, Sharon Kilpatrick (husband Gary) of Jamestown, NC, Kenneth Lick of Anderson, SC and Brenda Lick of Anderson, SC; the most wonderful grandchildren, Valerie Lick, Brittany Lancaster, Nathan Lick, Melanie Lick, Amanda Lick and Ryan Lick; and sister, Deborah Henry.

In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Henry and brother, William Everett Henry.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm in The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
