Barbara Bowen McClellan, age 92, of Anderson, SC, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 18, 2023. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, and friend.

Born February 2, 1931, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee Bowen and Claudia Osbourne Bowen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bill McClellan; brother, Melvin Bowen; two children, Gina Scott and Russell McClellan; son-in-law, Keith Scott; and three grandchildren, Chris Scott, Travis Scott, and Brian Scott.

Barbara attended and graduated from Girls High in Anderson in 1947. She worked at Lawrence and Brownlee from 1947 until she retired in 2010. Barbara was a charter member of Boulevard Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joy Sunday School Group, the senior adult choir, the WMW, and the Bereavement Committee. She also participated in the Senior Follies for several years.

She is survived by her sister, Helen Rapella; sister-in-law, Evie Jane Bowen; three children, Pamela Rainey, Richard McClellan, and Allyson Sanders (Brian); daughter-in-law, Brenda Scott; a daughter by choice, Susan Jones (Jerry); grandchildren, Jon Michael Rainey, Brandon Rainey, Courtney Rainey, Joshua Rainey, Meredith Rainey, Douglas Freidel, Sam Sanders, and Ben Sanders; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 22, 2023, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Boulevard Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at the church at 11:30 am with Dr. Austin Carty and Dr. Jack Couch officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boulevard Baptist Church or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Allyson Sanders.
