Barbara Ashley McGill, age 85, of Iva, SC, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born April 25, 1939, in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late J. B. Ashley and the late Clara Hayes Ashley. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kendra Lea Fowler, brother, Jesse Ray Ashley, and daughter-in-law, Stephanie McGill.

Barbara was a 1958 graduate of Crescent High School. She retired after 30 years of work from Jackson Mill as a weaver. She was a great cook; the kind of cook without recipes, timers or fancy ovens. Everyone loved her cakes, especially the red velvet and chocolate drizzle. All her creations were filled full of one special ingredient, love. Barbara enjoyed day trips to the mountains, and she was a member of Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ronald "Ronnie" McGill; son, Rick McGill; daughter, Rhonda Minchew (Terry); granddaughters, Lauren Fowler, Heather Fowler, and Renee Minchew; and special cousins, Lynda Wilson and Debbie Hayes.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 11:00 am at Iva City Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Wanda White and Reverend Billy Pinson.
