BARBARA L. THOMPSON
September 22, 1942 - April 20, 2012
Barbara L. Thompson of 1024 Cloud Drive, Belton, SC, went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest B. Lindsay and the late Sybil Mattison Lindsay. She was married for 40 years to her beloved husband, Jimmy Dean Thompson.
Barbara was a member of the Honea Path Church of God. In recent years, she was a homemaker. She was employed for 10 years at BASF, and later with Schmid products where she retired in 1984. Mrs. Thompson was a graduate of Honea Path High School and later attended Forrest College.
Survivors in addition to her husband, Jimmy Dean, include sons, Ricky Shaw (Ann) and Keith Shaw (Lisa), both of Belton; step-daughters, Vickie Bennett (Mark), Susan McCord (Clint), and Lisa Fowler (Earl), all of Savannah, GA, and Tammy Braddock (Brad) of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Dennis Lindsay (Carolyn) of Honea Path, SC; sisters, Christine Ridgeway (Ed) and Brenda Reynolds (Johnny) both of Anderson, and Shelby Long (Pope) of Greenwood, SC. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Ernest Lindsay, Jr.
A funeral service honoring the life of Barbara will be held Sunday, April 22, 2012, at 2 PM at the Honea Path Church of God, officiated by Rev. Eric Schuler and Rev. George Cooper. Entombment will follow at the Garden of Memories in Belton. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home Saturday, April 21, 2012, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
