BARBARA KAY WHITFIELD June 26, 1937 - May 15, 2013 Barbara Jean Kay Whitfield, age 75, of 722 O'Neal Ferry Road, Townville, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Oconee Medical Center in Seneca. Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Clifton Kay and the late Willie Mae Royster Kay. For 56 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of Lewis O. Whitfield of the residence. Mrs. Whitfield worked for many years as an Inspector with Jantzen Textiles in Seneca. After her retirement, she focused on being a housewife, mother, and grandmother. Barbara was a graduate of Townville High School and was a member of Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church. As long as health permitted, she enjoyed gardening and sewing. In addition to her husband, Lewis, Mrs. Whitfield is survived by a son, Wayne Whitfield of Townville; 2 daughters, Melissa Whitfield Elgin and her husband, Tim, of Townville and Teresa Whitfield Buckley and her husband, Pat, of Clemson; 3 brothers, Larry Kay and his wife, Juanita, of Belton, Billy Kay of Hartwell, GA, and Jerry Kay and his wife, Sandra, of Williamston; 2 sisters, Ann Soileau and her husband, Joe, of Anderson, and Jessie Mae Grant and her husband, Ray, of Townville. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Barbara Kay Whitfield will be held Friday, May 17, 2013, at 2 PM at Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church, with Rev. Paul Cheezem officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, May 16, 2013, from 5 PM until 7 PM.
