He served in the US Army and was a retired Supervisor at the Cushman Mill in Williamston. Mr. Black was a longtime member of Garner Memorial Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class and a former Deacon.Survivors include his wife of over sixty-three years, Mary Stamps Black; daughter, Judy B. Barbare; son, David L. Black; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers.The Funeral Service will be held at 12Noon on Thursday, July 14, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by Dr. Jack Couch. The committal service conducted by the Reverend Isham Gilcrease will follow in M.J. 'Dolly' Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
