Bennie Harrison Cox, 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 8, 2022. Bennie was the son of the late Leland Harrison and Hazel Taylor Cox of Anderson, SC. He is survived by his loving wife Linda Shaw Cox of 57 years. Bennie graduated from Anderson Boys High School in 1956 and served his country in the United States Navy. He graduated from Anderson College in 1965 and later graduated from Furman University. He retired from BASF. He was a member and deacon of Concord Baptist Church and in previous years he was a member of Eureka Baptist Church serving faithfully in many roles. He delivered Meals-On-Wheels and visited nursing homes and assisted-living facilities, praying for the friends he met there. He enjoyed playing the guitar for them, which was always a part of his life, and he passed that love on to his son and grandson. He was known for his love of golf, played professional baseball in his 20s and enjoyed watching his son and grandsons play baseball. He enjoyed taking trips with Christian friends. In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa Cox Farmer and son-in-law Tim, two grandsons, Grant and Drew, his son, Mark Cox and daughter-in-law Angie, and granddaughter, Sarah. Also surviving are his brother, Bill Cox and wife Kathy of NC. The funeral service will be held at Concord Baptist Church on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 3:00 pm with Dr. Don Cox officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:30-2:30 pm. A committal service with full military honors will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm at MJ Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery.
