BERNICE BURDETTE April 18, 1923 - May 16, 2013 IVA, SC Bernice Imogene Compton Burdette, age 90, of Iva, SC, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late C.W. Compton and the late Roxie Elizabeth Hill Compton. She retired from textiles and from food service. Bernice taught private guitar lessons and was an avid seamstress. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery for many years. She was known for being a faithful wife, a special mother and a loving grandmother. She is survived by her children, Sue Cook and her husband Jimmy of Iva, Bobby Burdette and his wife Jane of Greenwood, SC, Eddie Burdette and his wife Sheryl of Easley, SC, Ricky Burdette and his wife Diane of Iva, SC, Ronnie Burdette and his wife Elaine of Anderson and Randall Burdette and his wife Kim of Iva; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, James Leroy Burdette; four brothers and four sisters. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Union Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:30 PM with Reverend Mike McMillion officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
