Bernice Amanda Smith Evans, 89, devoted wife of John P. Evans, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Born in Stapleton, GA on November 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Walter Smith and the late Florence Shepherd Smith. Mrs. Evans was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church where she was active in the Esther Sunday School Class. Survivors include her son, John T. Evans and his wife, Lisa, of Anderson; a daughter Brenda E. Glenn and her husband Michael of Greenville; four grandchildren Scott B. Glenn and wife, Dana, Matt E. Glenn and wife Rebecca, Amanda Forrest and husband Shannon, and Jonathan Evans and wife, Andrea; also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb and Joshua Forrest, Luke and Ethan Evans, Hayley and Ella Glenn, and Easton and Corey Glenn. Mrs. Evans was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Bernice Evans will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Dr. Matthew Danuser and Rev. Perry Duggar officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
